“The Nomadic Hands intern programme, the way I experienced it, was a fantastic opportunity to immerse into a different life. I joined Simone in her everyday life in the Philippines, from sleeping arrangements over eating habits to meeting with the people Nomadic Hands works with.
.
I think if you consider joining this programme you need to be open to take in whatever it can give you, don’t expect to be presented with a finished curiculum. If you can do this, you’ll be in for a really fun and unforgettable ride!
‘Give it a go’, as Simone says.
You may feel challenged on levels you weren’t expecting to be challenged on, you will certainly need to step back on personal habits and go with a new flow (as in every integration into different environments) and the good news is that this is actually a very unique gift – and once you get into the groove you will love it , you will make innumerable experiences, you will learn for life and cherish it for a long time after.”

“I have had a fantastic time working with Nomadic Hands as well as learning a lot and feeling like I made a small
difference in the world. It is by no means a 9-5 internship, and every day is different.
I wanted to gain real hands-on experience in filming documentaries, which is exactly what I did as soon as I started with Nomadic Hands. I got to research, film and edit documentaries, as well as organisation videos. I learned how to use a HDV camera and how to edit with Final Cut Pro.
I would recommend it to anyone interested in a career in media, sustainable living or social enterprise.”

To whom it may Concern:
My name is Isaac Couto and I am a second year law student at the University of Calgary in Alberta, Canada. My studies thus far have been focused on human rights matters, social benefits advocacy, and access to justice issues. I am planning to spend the following summer (May-July 2014) working in Brazil in order to help and protect vulnerable individuals utilizing the skills I have acquired throughout law school. I also speak/write/and read Portuguese. I am interested in working with Nomadic Hands as I feel the projects your organization is involved in would provide we with a unique perspective on these issues and an opportunity to truly help people needing support/an advocate. I am truly interested in an opportunity to volunteer/internship with your organization during my stay and to learn alongside your team.
I am currently preparing and submitting my applications in order to secure a position for the summer. I am also preparing funding applications in order to
secure financial support for my work abroad. Various individuals/organizations are
willing to provide me with funding, however, most applications require
me to have a volunteer/internship position secured. Also, many funders
have set their application deadlines at mid to late February. Any information regarding upcoming opportunities and/or the application process would be truly appreciated.
Thank you kindly and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
